Husham Sharifi, MD
I am a physician-engineer developing quantitative chest imaging methods for fibrotic lung disease after hematopoietic cell and lung transplantation. These complications are usually diagnosed late, once the damage is irreversible; my work applies quantitative CT and machine learning to detect them while intervention still helps. I am a Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine.

I lead the chest imaging subgroup of the Consensus Conference, an international group of pulmonologists, transplant hematologists, immunologists, radiologists and statisticians convened to revise the NIH criteria for lung graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). My group is developing the diagnostic requirements and research agenda for conventional and advanced imaging modalities in this space.
